Cohort 5 Report: 121 Applicants from 8 Countries, 5 Graduates, and a Growing Movement

The fifth cohort of the Leading for a Change programme has officially concluded, and we are proud to share the results of what has been one of our most impactful runs yet.

Recruitment and Reach

Recruitment for Cohort 5 ran from January 6 through March 16, 2026. We promoted the opportunity across multiple channels — including Instagram, our founder’s TikTok page, and targeted advertisements — investing over N25,000 in outreach efforts.

The response was remarkable: we received 121 applications from eight countries across Africa and beyond — Algeria, Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda, South Africa, Kenya, United Kingdom, and Niger.

Applicant Demographics

Of the 121 applicants, 60.3% were female and 39.7% were male, reflecting the strong commitment of young women across the continent to leadership development. Over 80 applicants joined the learning community, and several signed up for the full course.

Programme Highlights

  • 5 classes delivered across the programme
  • 2 external facilitators from Equip brought in as guest instructors
  • 2 gift vouchers awarded — a 30k gift voucher won by Joy Williams and a 5,000 book gift voucher by Lois Moses
  • 5 students completed the full criteria: attending all classes and submitting an Impact Project

Graduation

The cohort graduated on April 25, 2026. Each graduate demonstrated not only their understanding of the leadership principles taught throughout the programme, but also their ability to apply those skills to real-world community challenges through their Impact Projects.

Looking Ahead

As we close the chapter on Cohort 5, we carry forward the lessons learned and the connections made. The Leading for a Change programme continues to grow — with Cohort 6 currently in progress and set to graduate in November 2026.

To everyone who applied, participated, facilitated, and supported Cohort 5 — thank you for being part of this journey.
